Laudato si' n. 63
The Light Offered by Faith
Pope St John Paul II in a letter to artists in 1999 wrote that ‘Faced with the sacredness of life and of the human person, and before the marvels of the universe, wonder is the only appropriate attitude.’ This is the inspiration behind all our work, together with Pope Francis’s Encyclical – Laudato Si’ – a letter written to the world about protecting the environment and promoting a global ecological conversion. “Authentic human development …..presumes full respect for the human person, but it must also be concerned for the world around us.” ~ Pope Francis (Laudato Si’). Setting the scene for Laudato Si’s historical message, Pope Benedict wrote in his 40th World Day of Peace 2007 message that “there is an urgent need, even within the framework of current international difficulties and tensions, for a commitment to a human ecology that can favour the growth of the “tree of peace”. An Clochar is committed to this vision of ecology, human development and protecting our natural environment.
